Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is an ambiguous topic in the world of Web marketing. Many companies offer it; however, practices vary and definitive expertise is even more elusive. It’s difficult to quantify good SEO without a high search ranking, basically a top 3 ranking in Google, MSN, and Yahoo! If anyone tells you that they can “game” Google or Yahoo! for a #1 ranking, they’re selling you snake oil — no one can “guarantee” anything when it comes to your site’s rank. Not only are the rules constantly changing and updating, they’re evolving as I write this piece.

At T1, we recommend our clients and prospects to think of SEO in terms of a marketing committment. There is no quick fix to SEO nor is there to your Web site’s marketing. This is not a sprint; this is an endurance match. Those who follow the proper rules-of-thumb set forth in good Web design principles, those who blog regularly, those who send out email newsletters semi-regularly with good content, those who minimize their use of Flash and keep their keyword analytics at or around 7% shall be the victors in this world. Those who participate in Black Hat SEO techniques will not only be sniffed-out by the search engines’ crawlers, they’ll be black-listed and pulled completely from the search results. The Kiss of Death for any Web marketer. Don’t let this happen to you.

Stay on the path of the White Hat with your Internet Marketing and you’ll be soaring to the top of the search engines’ results.
